COURSE DESCRIPTION: Prepares students for the MATH 124/125/126 calculus sequence. Students work intensively with functional trigonometry; polar coordinates; translation and rotation of axes; plane analytic geometry; lines and planes in space; quadric surfaces and non-linear systems. Fulfills the quantitative or symbolic reasoning course requirement at BCC. Prerequisite: Placement by assessment; or MATH 105 with a B- or better. TEXT: Larson, Hostetler, Edwards, Precalculus Functions and Graphs A Graphing Approach, 3rd Edition SUPPLIES: TI Graphing calculator (except TI89, TI92)

CLASS PROCEDURE: | Homework problems will be assigned and collected for evaluation based on a five point scale: - 5 pts - Well done solution - 4 pts - Some problems - 3 pts - Conceptural problems - 2 pts - Attempted solutions - 1 pt - Problem statement Full credit for all homework will be 100 points. Homework is due at the start of the class period. Late homework will not be accepted
SCHEDULE NOTE: GRADING: Academic improvement during the quarter will be rewarded by replacing one mid-term exam score with the final exam score when it is helpful.
