The most enjoyable climb of Summer '99 - The Columbia Gorge near Vantage, Washington!Merlin, Micah and I went there the weekend of July 9 and 10th. We climbed Saturday, then went to the Lilith Fair at the Amphitheater which is a bowl shaped depression hanging hundreds of feet up the side of the Columbia Gorge, looking out on the river. Then Sunday we climbed again. It was a short trip but massively enjoyable by all present.
The weather was spectacular, the concert (featuring Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Luscious Jackson, Sandra Bernhardt, Mya, Liz Phair among others) was spectacular, the climbing spectacular ... altogether a perfect weekend.
