

Medical School
After earning a bachelor's degree, students will spend four years in medical school and three to four years or more in residency.

Dental School
Dental school at the University of Washington requires 14 quarters beyond the preparatory course work. This includes summer quarters between the first and second years and between the second and third years.
The total cost for tuition, books and supplies for the 14 quarters of dental school is approximately $76,000 for Washington state residents.
For the most recent class statistics, 1021 applications were received for 55 available positions. Of the 55 students admitted, 43 were state residents and 20 were women. Only US citizens and permanent residents are considered.
For the most recent admissions, the overall GPA was 3.65, the science GPA was 3.58.
The majority of accepted applicants have bachelor's degrees. You should plan for a bachelor's degree in the event that you are not accepted to dental school. There is no specific major recommended and you should choose something that will meet your alternate career goals. The majority of accepted applicants had science related majors. You need experience in a dental setting and should thoroughly research the dental profession and read professional journals.

Pharmacy School
The University of Washington and Washington State University are the only schools in Washington. Only US citizens and permanent residents are accepted.
Resident tuition and fees at WSU and UW is approximately $12,000 per year. Books are about $1200 per year.
The UW admits 86 students per year and WSU admits 94. The UW had 616 applicants, WSU had 935 applicants. The average GPA is in the 3.6 range.
Not in Washington. The PharmD program is four years of professional studies following two to three years of pre-pharmacy preparation. However, about half of the students admitted did have a bachelor's degree or higher.

Veterinary School
The DVM degree requires four years beyond the bachelor's degree.
For the most recent class, 949 applications were received, 97 students were admitted. The average age was 24.3 years and approximately 75% were women.
Students may declare a major in any subject, but are encouraged to major in animal science, biology, chemistry, zoology, microbiology or wildlife. You should have an alternate career plan in case you are not admitted to vet school.
The last entering class had an overall GPA of 3.71 and a science GPA of 3.65.
Resident tuition is approximately $16,000 per year.
Students begin applying in June and the deadline is October 1 for the next year.
